In the summer of 1999
I, Travis McKelvain, felt the leading of God to start a
ministry on the campus of Texas A&M University that would aim at challenging
the faith of Christians I went to school with, as well as bringing unbelievers
to a personal walk with God. I shared the vision with my roommate and good friend Matthew
Garrett, who implemented the name for the ministry, and helped establish
I.G.N.I.T.E.Ministries as an official campus organization.
With prayer and much persuasion,
we employed the support of Ryan and Rachel Holland, our Bible Study
partners and close friends. Together the four of us launched out
on a very rocky journey, and God has really matured and grounded us
all. We all come from completely different backgrounds and
persuasions, but our vision has united. As far as ministry is
concerned, I could ask for no one better to be with than these
people. They have stuck through the hard times, and there have
been plenty of hard times! As we grow closer to the Lord, we grow
closer to each other. We truly have experienced how "iron
sharpens iron." (Proverbs 27:17)
Since it's inception
I.G.N.I.T.E. has grown into a multi-faceted ministry completely focused
on establishing the Kingdom of Jesus Christ on this and other college
campus', and the world at large. The Lord has provided us with
many laborers who are willing work to reach this goal. As the task
becomes larger, so does the supply of Godly young people increase.

Their lives have become witnesses of the changing power of Jesus Christ.
